Condolences to Sean, Gay and all of Deccie's family.
We grew up together, school in St Patrick's Red School, long since repurposed and played football particularly with Sandville Utd into our teens............. we all of that era.
Deccie always thought he was as good as Allan Clarke of Leeds in scoring goals. We knew the truth, Deccie was better because above all he was our friend................... that counted for something then and still does now.
Trip to Liverpool in 1979, Grand National weekend (this weekend as well) it was arranged for but we the kids saw no racing, adults saw that.
Life moves on but you still remember the friends, pals, teammates who were part of who we were in growing up.
We never won any cups at Sandville Utd but we won something better, teammates, friends who we remember as they pass on.
