Anne, Tara, Conal and Aoibheann, I was so shocked and saddened to hear the news of Declan’s passing. I’ll always remember him as a larger than life personality, with a mischievous grin and a brilliant attitude to life. Along with so much more, Deco was the brain, the heart and the soul of the mighty Freds, a special group like no other. It was a privilege to call him a friend and teammate. I hope our sadness will soon give way to smiles at a treasure trove of great memories.
Heaven’s XI got a star striker last year in the wonderful Danny O’Brien (rip), now they’ve got a new manager.

We worked with Deco for many years in Telecom and eircom. We also enjoyed the great times we had with ‘The Freds’ over the years. He was a gentleman, a loyal friend, and a great work colleague. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. May Deco rest in peace.

I have nothing but fond memories of growing up as a next door neighbour of Dec and all the Clerkin family on Kinvara Road.
Dec was one of life's good guys and anytime I met him in recent years we could pick up the conversation as if we'd only met the previous day. That's what's known as friendship.
He never lost that witty Dublin sense of humour.
May he rest in peace with his beloved ma and da, Seán and Stasia.
