So sorry to hear the sad news, thinking of all the Hogan family and his extended family
RIP Declan
RIP Declan
Very sorry to hear of Declan’s death at such a young age. His deep expertise and many skills came wrapped in his warm, easy, funny and energetic personality. We remember with gratitude and fondness his visits to TG4 from his time in Tyrell and RTÉ. Our condolences to all the family, friends and colleagues. Suaimhneas síoraí dó.
Condolences to all the Hogan family on the passing of Declan. He was a gentleman. R.I.P 🙏
I am so, so sorry to hear this sad news. I met Declan in his Tyrell days and he was so knowledgeable, patient and helpful. He carried his expertise lightly and was always so nice to deal with. His partner and family often got mentioned in conversations and you could tell how much he loved them by how he spoke. I can only imagine how devastated you must all be feeling now. My heartfelt condolences to Dec’s family and friends.

Heartfelt condolences to Oisin & family on the passing of Declan. May he RIP.
So sad to hear this news.
I worked a little with Dec at RTE and the reflections left by other colleagues here very clearly echo my own - he was always looking for a better way to do things and had a genuine passion for being helpful. That was just him overall. Add to that the mirth and kindness that he brought I can only imagine the loss that the family especially are feeling - I’m sure he did and always will mean the world to you all.

I was lucky enough to work with Declan for a few years.
What a great guy. So open and friendly with such a can do attitude to life. He made a lasting impression on me and all those he met.

To all the Hogan family, so sorry to hear the sad news of Deco’s passing. Thinking of you all. May he rest in heavenly peace.
I have known Declan for ever. Back to early Windmill days. He was always way smarter than me. Always helped me out with a heart and a half. Everyone who knew him will say the same thing. He was just the nicest person one could meet. Always a smile. Rest in peace Declan.
It has been a couple of years now since I worked with Dec during his time in Windmill Lane but his warmth and patience left a lasting impact. So sad to hear the news of his passing. To all friends, family and colleagues, my deepest condolences.
I was so sorry to hear of Dec’s passing. I first met Dec in the canteen in WRTC and through out my late teens and 20’s I was always delighted to be in Deco’s company. Over the years since then I have run into Dec on occasion and he was always the same smiling, generous man. My life is poorer for knowing that will not happen again, but so much richer for all of the time that I spent in his company.
My deepest condolences to his family and to all who will miss him.

Awful news. He was a gentleman and a thorough professional. He was head of engineering when I joined Windmill Lane in 1998 and I leaned everything I know about Avid troubleshooting from him. My condolences to his colleagues, friends and family. RIP Declan.

My sincere condolances to all Dec's family and many friends. Such a lovely guy. I'm so sad for your loss.
Declan was a treasure. I worked with him in
Windmill Lane and he was a gentleman and good humoured in even the craziest of times. I remember him saying we’d just surpassed more gigabyte storage than NASA had for the Moon Landing & the Apollo missions combined. He kept Windmill out of as many scrapes as he could and it wasn’t easy to do when the clients needs ranged from U2 & MTV to Brennans bread. He was King of the Avid editing system and took the news that someone had spilled a gin & tonic into a controller with his customary calm & humour “I hope they got a few sips before they ruined that Avid”. I remember him telling me he was going to RTE and it was so he could work better hours and see more of his wife & family whom he adored. Rest in peace Declan you were a triumph. Deepest condolances to Declan's Family, was always a pleasure to meet him. Full of the stories and always had a smile on him. He will be deeply missed.
I worked with Declan in RTE - he was one of the very best - no matter how stressful the situation he approached it with a grin and a determination to find a solution. He always seemed to enjoy the challenge! He was one of those rare people who could translate 'techie speak' into english and always shared his knowledge freely. Hugely supportive and a joy to be around - my condolences to all his family and wide circle of friends. Rest easy Declan - I miss you.
Declan was a wonderful work colleague and friend. Always in good form, he brought an energy to everything he did. He enthused those around him and got the best out of people. He was incredibly talented and hard working. He will be sorely missed by the broadcast tech community. Many condolences to his family. May he Rest in Peace.
My deepest condolences to Deco's family and friends. Ill never forget the craic we used to have in Paddy and Decs gaff on Manor St when we were at WRTC, where I first met him. Ill remember Deco as a great man for fun and philosophysing over a pint or 2, always interesting always good company. Im so glad I got to catch up with him when I was home last year. Goodbye Deco.
Many condolences to all of Declan’s family and many friends, my memories of Declan go back to the 90’s in Windmill Lane and whenever there was a technical problem, all roads led to Declan to sort, and he was always so helpful no where he was when you called asking that difficult question that nobody could answer, and always answered with a twinkle and smile, always in the best of form. Declan may you Rest in Peace
Deepest condolences to Decos closest and our Hogan family. You were always a great lad to be around growing up and always had some project on the go with a variety of music interests. You will be back in the arms of auntie Kathleen and will be deeply missed by those left behind. Our love goes out to your family in this time of grief.

To Deco's friends and family; it's been many moons since I last spoke but I remember a fun, intelligent, up-for-a-craic laddie and in whose company (at the time) I had the pleasure of spending time in the pub in our late 20's/early 30's. The chicken wings and beer in the Harbourmaster of a Sunday were a particular favourite, to counter-act the hangover from the Saturday night. I was stunned and saddened to hear of his passing. A bed of heaven to him.
Such a lovely man deepest sympathy
Deepest condolences to all Declan’s family.
I shared a flat in Manor Street in Waterford on the final year of the degree. Always entertaining and good fun. Hugely shocked to hear of Declan’s passing.

I’m deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend. Declan was not only a wonderful colleague but also a close friend. We shared so many great times together both in and out of work and those memories will always stay close to my heart.

Deepest condolences to all Declan’s family.
I met Declan as a 17 year in Waterford Regional Technical college way back in 1988. We were all a bit nervous, and on our first day, the first person I met and sat beside was this fine gentleman with very long hair He looked up at me a bit sheepishly with a beaming smile and said “I’m Deco” . We were great friends from that point onwards, and remained so throughout our 20’s and early 30’s. Lost touch a bit after that as life takes over. I remember a dear and treasured friend with great intelligence and honesty, who was always enormous fun to be around with a fantastic sense of humour. Hugely saddened to hear of Declan’s passing. I will miss you my friend.

Lucky to have known him. It's only 3 weeks ago Vicki, that he was showing us the Debs photo! You really lit up Declan's world. Thoughts with you all. X
I was only speaking with someone in our industry this week who told me Declan hadn’t been well, such heartbreaking news to hear of his passing, My sincere condolences to his family. Declan was an absolute gentleman, and it was always a pleasure working with him over the years.
To all the Hogan family,
It was with great sadness that I learned of Deco’s passing from my brother Paul. He was a gentleman and a scholar, a joy to spend time with, focused with a wry sense of humour.
I remember vividly the moment of meeting Deco as I joined our Electronics class a year late, him with his long hair and glasses, and I bleached blonde mohican, clambering over the benches, to the empty seat, to sit alongside him for the next couple of years. Memories of the being dragged to the library after Toms math’s class, to crack the code of the equations, working diligently eventually crawling out of the tunnel and into the light him euphoric and I just delighted to see daylight. He made the classes so much more bearable.
As happens with classmates, we all head their separate ways, Deco back to Dublin and I to my wandering. Then a couple of years ago my brother had the great pleasure to tell me he was working with Deco in RTE and of the great lunches they had playing squash.
Sometimes we miss out on the opportunities of reconnecting, to hear and share the stories that came after, as we think we have all the time in the world, and that makes this news so much sadder.
It is wonderful to read here how he loved and was loved by his family and all who met him on their journeys. Lucky are we to have met and shared in his humour, that made the day so much brighter, now he is among the stars.
Thank you, Rest in Peace, Deco

I am sad to hear of the passing of Declan allways had a smile on his face condolences to all his family rest in perfect peace Declan .
This is such sad news. I knew Declan from our time in RTE. He managed to infuse the daily grind with humour - the type of colleague who got the task at hand done with the minimum of fuss, but always with a smile and more than the occasional laugh.
I was fortunate to have a chat and a pint with Declan in Grogans a few years back. We didn't dwell too much on our time at RTE, just had the craic and more than a few laughs. This will be my abiding memory of Declan.
A kind and generous soul. Condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
