Sympathy to Eleanor, Caroline, Leanne, Declan and Jonathan on the loss of their father Declan. Declan and myself had many happy days walking in the Dublin/Wicklow Mountains and further afield in Ireland in the 1980s and 1990s.Walks usually terminated in a public house and we joined the locals in learned discussions in Zoeller's in Lacken, Fenton's in the Glen of Imaal and the Glenmalure Inn. Declan could also break into song with Arthur McBride and the haunting ballad of radical trade unionist Joe Hill. Sic transit.

Then my living shall not be in vain."
It is with regret that I learn of of the sad passing of my friend Declan Doyle. I send my condolences to Eleanor and the Doyle family. As well as his great contributions to the Sporting and Social Life of the Parish of St. Judes and his contribution to St Judes GAA club, being chairman there for many years, Declan also found time to work for the Legion of Mary. He was attached to Greenhills parish and did his legion work there. He greatly assisted in Greenhills parish during the Covid era, assisting the parish with parking and internal regulation in the Church. During the Covid period he also greatly contributed to the redecoration of the Legion Premises at 60 Sundrive Road - painting the premises and helping with other external works. He was also a great organiser of the Annual Pilgrimage to Our Lady's shrine in Knock. He was an expert organiser and no detail was overlooked.
I know above all Declan was a family man and latterly devoted himself to the family and the care of Eleanor.
May he now receive his eternal reward for a life well lived.

Sincere condolences to the Doyle family on the sad death of your beloved Declan. Our paths first crossed as PRO’s respectively of St. Jude’s G.A.A. Club and Templeogue Utd. Football Club, as we were charged with organising the official opening of the all-weather pitch in November 2002, and all that that entailed – a huge success and an excellent example of collaboration between the clubs for the benefit of the community. So, it's no surprise to hear of the high esteem in which Declan is held and the impact he had across many communities in his personal and professional life.

“He has achieved success who has left the world better than he found it”.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Eleanor and family at this sad time. May Declan rest in peace.
