I worked with Declan very closely when I was working for Lewisham Council as a service manager for its single homelessness service. I did this job for eight years and for every single day of them Declan was a pillar of support but more than this he was instrumental in changing the lives of countless vulnerable people not as fortunate as us.

Sleep well my friend. I will miss you.

I worked with Declan at SCT. He was one of those special people who gave his heart and soul to supporting others. And he was hilarious. The world is a sadder place without him.

Just heard last night, a terrible loss to his loved ones, friends and the disadvantaged in general. Endlessly compassionate advocate for those who didn't have a voice, or didn't quite have the ability to use it. Always made time to speak to me on the phone too. Terrible loss.

I was first introduced to Declan 30 years ago when Peter gigged with him. I remember being simply blown away by his talent. Since then, I had the pleasure of meeting him several times, including having a very nice evening with him in a London a few years ago.
He was an incredibly talented guy. Not just musically. He had a huge impact on so many people over the years.
It’s very sad that he has been taken so soon. My sincerest sympathies to all the Flynn family. May he rest in peace.
