Managing a building, just up the block from his, I knew Declan for many years. That said, our history was a series of very brief conversations, arising from chance meetings on the street during the work day. I found him to be a very genuine, soft spoken, sincere, humble man. Someone, I always wished I knew better. In mid March, in the early evening, our paths crossed again. The work day hopefully behind us, for the first time, we took the opportunity to speak a bit longer. How fortunate, and grateful, I now feel for having gotten that opportunity. I'm feel lucky to have known you. Rest in peace.

We extend our deepest condolences to Declan’s dear family at his shocking loss. He often spoke with love and pride of his twins at Trinity and of his go-getter son. He was so very helpful and knowledgeable as we undertook a one year renovation of our apartment. We often wish we’d taken ALL of his excellent advice. He was simply a great guy and great professional and we will miss him.

Declan Hennessy was one of the kindest, most generous, loyal, considerate and competent people I have ever known. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work with him for fourteen years. As Managing Agent of 1016 Fifth Avenue from October 2003 to October 2017, I spoke with him almost daily, and came to appreciate his counsel, intelligence and skills. He was always accessible, working long hours, going above and beyond typical responsibilities. He was a humble and effective manager who would roll up his sleeves and do any task that he would ask of his staff. His love and dedication to his family was beyond measure. A truly exceptional person. I am profoundly saddened by his passing. Not just as a colleague but as a friend. I will miss him. I wish his family and friends peace and comfort in happy memories of Declan throughout the years ahead.
