Declan was one of the great characters in the Department of Finance in my time there, always cheerful and a man who got things done. My condolences to his family and friends.

As a young boy growing up in Mount Prospect I remember Declan starring for Belgrove FC. Twenty years later we were part of a Dept. of Fi. team expertly led by Declan on the pitch. May he RIP.

Sad to come across Declan's obituary. I was at school from day one until we left Belgrove on Seafield Rd. It's a long time ago but I felt obliged to offer my condolences. I remember him for his kindness to me on a particular day when I was having a bad day.
I have never forgotten that or his friendship through those years.

The banter was always great when we got together .Declan will be sadly missed at Strandhill Golf club and all of Sligo. Very sad to hear of Declan’s passing. I was in the Dept of Finance with him in the 70’s and played in the Dept’s soccer team where he was unsurprisingly the stand out performer. I still recall his wit and humour which he also used to good effect in his work. May he rest in peace.
