Carmel, I only heard the news about Declan today (21/1). We worked together in daa. He was very kind to me when I joined the company in 2018, and he was such a character - he seemed to know everyone in the airport. I am so sorry for your loss. So sorry to hear the unexpected and sad news of Declan’s passing.. Jacqueline and I have such fond memories of your wonderful company at the annual Cabin Crew ball. There weren’t so many stewards when I first joined Aer Lingus but all of them were so popular with the girls. Declan was no exception . He had a wonderful way of making any situation or day enjoyable .and it was this and his professionalism that brought him success in his varied career. He will be sadly missed by many but never forgotten.

Carmel I am so so sorry for your loss. Declan was not only a gentleman he lit up copious people's worlds whenever we met him. I had some memorable flights with Declan and you could not make up the craic we had on overnights! I loved the days I met Declan on his walks with Mac in the valley when I was heading there with Eillie (our Westie)! It was lovely to see you yesterday and share a hug, albeit was laced with deep, deep sadness and grief. May your kind, generous and much much more Soul Mate, Declan Rest in Peace.

Declan was one of nature’s true gentlemen. He was a unique work colleague and a very loyal friend. He had such a lovely way about him and any encounter with him always lifted my spirits.
