I was deeply saddened to hear of Declan's passing. Declan was a great supporter of UCD over many years and will be sadly missed by colleagues there. While I did not know him long, Declan gave me great advice and support in my role and was always willing to listen, contribute and help. I particularly remember fondly the Christmas dinner in University Lodge with Declan, yourself and others. He was a lovely gentleman.

I am thinking of you and the whole family at this difficult time.

It was with shock and sadness that I recently learned of the sudden death of Declan . I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife Margaret , his children , sisters and the extended family on their irreplaceable loss . Declan was such a wonderful force of nature that it must have felt that such a day was a long way off .
When we met in recent years in Sandyford, we usually shared reminiscences on the industrial transformation of modern Ireland including the role of his father Kevin , who was a founding member of the predecessor to to-days IDA-Ireland . I have the warmest recollections of all my encounters with Declan . Ar dheis De go raibh a anam .

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Declan’s passing. We were students together in the gloriously turbulent 1960s. Although I have been living in Hong Kong for 40 years, I have clearly memory of Declan’s vibrant personality and his high intellect. His qualities will be long remembered, and appreciated by his achievements. With great respect and sincere sympathy, I offer my condolences to Margaret, also an old friend, and to their family.
