I was saddened to hear of Declan's passing as I had personally soldiered with Declan (that's how I knew him) in Croke Pk when we worked together for our respective organisations. A true gentleman and a pleasure to spend time in his company. My condolences, and those of all in St. John Ambulance, to Declan's family, friends and colleagues in NAS.

It was with great sadness l learned of the death of Declan. I worked with him in the mid sixties in bray Mini Market( Blanchardtown Mill) when we were both starting our working lives. When the farmers came in for feed for their animals, us girls used to hide, as the shed where it was stored was full of mice. Declan the gentleman that he was always got it. Never ever complained. I have met him on and off over the years and He spoke so lovingly about You Betty and his Family.I remember bringing my Son Gavin after ANOTHER accident to Loughlintown and before we got out of the car he puked all over it, and Declan very kindly help me cleaned it up.l lived next store to his Iate sister Beirne in Ardmore park before they moved out. The worlds loss is heaven’s gain.

I would like to Express my condolence to the Nugent family i had the good fortune to have met Declan many years ago at Loughlinstown hospital when the ambulance service was based there and my wife nursed in ICU Declan was involved in the wicklow civil defence and the NAS like most of our generation we new one another through our interest in the voluntary service Declan was an amazing person he always had a kind and caring word when you met him he will be sadly missed by his family and friends rest in peace Declan
