So sad to hear the news. Declan was one of my best friends in school and he was one of the funniest people I ever knew. He often had the whole class in fits of laughter. We used to play Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust together and he had great taste in music. I will always remember him fondly and am proud to have called him a friend. He still is. Take care, Declan, RIP.
We were best friends for many years .. went on holidays together, rode motorbikes, played subbuteo for hours and never had a falling out. As others have said, he was extremely bright and witty and a great guy to be around. His dad helped me get my first "real" job. We lost touch during the 1980's, but I thought about Declan on many occasions .. may he rest in peace.
Helen, I am very sorry to hear of Declan's sudden, and early, passing. My sincere sympathy.
I am very sad to hear of Dec's passing and would like to pass on my condolences and sympathies to his sisters and extended family. I remember Dec with great fondness and affection from our years together as classmates in St. Mary's and from our local "gang" as teenagers and young adults in Templeogue. RIP Dec......"knocking on heaven's door" Paddy and Lorraine

My sincerest sympathies to all of Declan’s family at this sad time. I remember Declan as a great classmate in St. Mary’s College in Rathmines. He was extremely intelligent and blessed with a photographic memory. I played on a number of soccer teams with him and he was always the star of the team. He was also extremely witty and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Declan.
