Goodbye, dear Declan. It has been a privilege to met you - the irish gentleman. 1994 we had much fun on the island Corfu, you took a vacation to show Ulrike and me your ireland an we celebrated the Cologne carnival with you. There ist no time any more to repeat it - it makes me very sad. You still had so many plans in your life. In thankful memories - miss you. Yours Katrin

Our thoughts are with The Prunty Family and Lena. Declan was a pure gentleman always time to chat listen and debate even though he say he was rushing he made the time. He took great interest in all people he met and he was very interested in the young people a great Gael and always took pride in the fact that Ciaran continued to play football. We will miss him dearly Declan Mag and Ciaran Farrell

Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Declan. I had the pleasure of working with Declan in Thorndale back in the day. We lost contact until 1 day last year I bumped in to him having lunch in Portlaoise with a colleague following a meeting in DAFM Offices. 30 minutes spent like we were never away. Sympathies to Oliver , Ann and the extended Prunty family. Gone far too soon. RIP Declan.
I sat in the same seat as Declan for three years, 1969 to 1972 in St Felim's College Ballinamore. There was not a bad bone in Declan's body, Funny, as genuine as they come, loyal and total integrity summed up Declan for me. Also a good footballer. . His photo in death notice looked the same as lovely lad I knew 50 years ago. Condolences to all especially Ollie.

Declan was a great football coach to our Edenderry u14 team around 1998, and always had kind words and a lot of wisdom anytime we crossed paths off the field in subsequent years. Declan, I can honestly say had a great capacity to listen and to reach out to people in a caring way. In Rosderra Edenderry he was a dedicated central 'go-to' DAFM figure, his presence was reassuring, his sheer support, his sense of camaraderie and his great rapport with all the vets, made all the difference. We all miss you so much.
Declan may you sleep that sleep of peace in God's embrace. I am fairly certain God could do with a top-class SAO .

I met Declan not long after coming to Ireland, he was a lovely gentleman, he was always there and a real pleasure to be with, like a father to the TVIs in the factory.
