My condolences to all the family on the recent passing of Declan, he was lovely man and I think attended Presentation brothers Cobh in the 50's with my dad Maurice and Uncle Eddie, both recently deceased. Declan was very sympathetic on their deaths and I was very sorry to hear of his passing.

Richard & Conor i wish to offer sincere & heartfelt condolences to you & your families on the sad & untimely passing of your beloved dad Declan. What a gentleman.
Also I didnt realise until now that ye're lovely Mam Finnualla has only recently passed & truly sympathise on that hard knock. In our youth we used to call to Scott's in Roches Terrace, Cobh as my dad & your Granny were cousin's. We loved going there as there was always a warm welcome, a big spread after the long journey & more tea before we'd all pile into the car & head for Clonakilty with sweets for the road & money too when our Mam ,& dad weren't looking. I think we usually called twice a year & Declan & Evelyn were so nice to us also
God be good to them all now.
Im afraid in latter years we mostly only met at funerals. May you both & your families get the strength to cope with such a very sad loss of losing both parents so close in time to one another.
But Im sure dad Declan, Mam Finnuala together with ye're beloved brother Ronan will take care of you both & your families from above & help you heal.
May their gentle souls rest in everlasting peace.

Richard & Conor I can’t believe I’m reading this tonight. I’m heartbroken to see this about Dec & your lovely mum too. I have such lovely memories of them when they were up here in Blackrock and all the holidays we had down in cork. Myself & Ronan were always getting into trouble! Your mum & Dad were so kind to me over the last few difficult years. I hope they are back together & having a good oul laugh and a glass or 2 with mum & Dad. Lots of love to you all.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of both Dec & Finnualla. I have such great memories of both of them & summer holidays in cork with my grandparents Brian and Jill.
Dec was such a great friend to my grandad & I will always remember his fantastic sense of humor.

Today we said farewell to our dear friend and neighbour Declan. We enjoyed his company over many years, and our children have reflected how lovely was to them as they grew up. Declan was a kind, gentle and thoughtful person and so knowledgeable and wise. We will miss him for his cheerful greetings, his lovely smile, his words of comfort, his words of encouragement and his optimism. Declan’s death is a great loss for his Hettyfield neighbours and he will be so sadly missed.

Declan, was a gentle and patient man. He had to be as he always stopped to have a chat when he met me while walking our dog and put up with my nonsense talk and our dog’s incessant barking. He always enquired of our family’s health and well being and how all the members of our extended family were getting on.
