Dee O'Brien

Dear Joan. Sincere condolence on the very sad passing of your soul sister, the lovely Dee. I remember Dee from my time in the Jes and how you had such a great friendship. Dee lit up the school and was a very popular teacher. I know she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Special thoughts go out to you on losing your cherished close friend.

I had the pleasure of knowing this positive, sparkling, beautiful girl in Waterford College of Art in the '70s. (DOB - Dee O' Brien). She was so cool with black hair which was wrapped in a scarf when we were doing pottery classes, otherwise the scarf was dressed around her neck. She had a terrific personality and she was fun to be around. Her name came up recently in conversation with other former art students and we were all wondering where she was. Only today, I heard of her passing - I felt such a wrench to hear it. I cannot imagine the immense loss for all her immediate family and her closest friends. Be comforted by the fact that she left joy wherever she went and we are all privileged to have met someone like her - she was such a lovely person who lifted everyone who knew her. What a shock to hear today of Dee's recent death. Reminiscing of happy days spent in her spirited and dynamic company many years ago. Rest well Dee - you've earned it.

Very sorry to hear of Dee’s death. She was always so kind and generous. She was hugely supportive to me when I was teacher training in the Jes. I will always cherish memories of good days in the late 80s and early 90s, her great company and her love and passion for art.

I am so sorry to hear of Dee's death. A big shock! I was with her in the school of art in Waterford and also shared a flat with her and another friend in our final year in Limerick. I remember Dee at the time wasn't a great cook and when it was her turn to cook dinner she burnt the pizza and shouted it from the flat window! Rest in peace Dee.
