Comhbhrón ó chroi ar bhás bhur máthair Deirdre. Having met your Dad at Pres College, Cork in 1958, it was my privilege to have a close friendship with both your parents. Ian was godfather to my son, and I visited your home in Blackrock frequently in 1980-82, when doing a Masters at TCD. Go raibh leaba i measc na Naomh ag Deirdre.

Condolences to Gráinne, Oisín, Aoife and Naoise on the passing of your mum and to Elaine, Seán and young Ian on the loss of your Nana. Deirdre was always so warm and welcoming to me when I visited your house over the years. It’s so lovely that she got to become a great-grandmother to beautiful little Ava, even for that short time. You’ve all been amazing, the care and the constant support you have given your Mum has been second to none. I hope she is now having the chats (maybe in Spanish) up with her dear Ian.
