So sad to hear of Deirdre's untimely passing which I have only today learned of. My deepest sympathies to all the extended family circle. PB
— Peter Brewitt
We are so saddened to have heard of Deirdre's passing. Our love and sympathies to all her family - both in Germany and in Ireland. We know the Irish members so well and have such a high regard for them - in both their Quaker involvement and through Newtown School. So sad, especially so soon after wonderful Philip's death.
— Roger and Joan Johnson, Waterford
My deepest condolences to all Deirdre’s family. I feel so fortunate to have had lots of fun , laughter and catch up at our Newtown school reunion in 2022. I will miss her dearly.

To Deirdre's dear children, family and friends.
I'm very sorry to hear that Deirdre has passed away so soon after her terrible diagnosis.

I first met Deirdre in Dublin in the summer of 1986 through mutual friends.
I loved her instantly. She had such a free spirited nature mixed with a quiet sophistication, a quirky sense of humour, and a warm heart.
Over the years, we visited with each other in London, Sydney, and Vancouver.
I'm not quite sure what possessed us, but one day in Sydney, we decided last-minute to go to see an opera at the Sydney Opera House. I can't even remember what opera it was, but I do remember that soon into the second act we both got an intense fit of the giggles, and to very disapproving glances from adjacent opera lovers, we had to leave very quickly as neither of us could control our laughter. I guess we were't cut out for afternoon opera after all. We hastily retreated to the opera Christmas store where we both bought small koala bears dressed as angels to go on top of a Christmas tree. Over the years, we exchanged photos of said koala angels perched on our trees.
I will think of Deirdre all the time, but most especially when I look at my little Aussie koala angel.
Love always,
'Carol's Number 1'
