I was fortunate to have met Deirdre numerous times over the years teaching on paediatric life support courses in Sligo, and it was immediately and always apparent what a lovely individual she was- patient, good humoured, highly competent and knowledgeable. She was clearly much loved and respected by all who knew her personally and professionally.
I would like to pass my sincere condolences to Deirdre’s family at this sad and difficult time, and wish for you the strength you will need to cope together.

I am so, so sorry to hear of Deirdre’s death. Deirdre’s group were Oct ‘87, and ours was Oct ‘88, so we had so many laughs and craic’ during our nurse training years in ‘Sligo General’…out dancing in Xanadus and The Blue Lagoon many’s a night.. and all the memories are her big wide smile and infectious energy. It was with great sadness we heard of Deirdre’s sad and untimely death. What a loss, Deirdre is an irreplaceable person, of great integrity, fun and professionalism. We did a 6wk course together some years ago, and Deirdre was the life & soul of everything we did. She was a fabulous person, a wonderful nurse, always focused on the patients, her kindness and care was exceptional. Deirdre was inspirational in all her endeavours- family, work, pantos, whatever… the best. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. Over the 35 years I worked with Deirdre in various roles, her energy, knowledge, enthusiasm, passion, vision, reach for excellence, never waned. She loved and embraced new challanges but yet always ensured that her team had fun especially during the many ACLS teaching courses over the years. Deirdre was known and respected all over the country in the field of Cardiology Nursing and Resuscitation. A wonderful person, not just as an inspirational colleague but also a life long treasured friend. It was my absolute privilege. Rest In Peace Deirdre x
