We have just heard that our friend and comrade Deirdre has died. Deirdre was a wonderful person who we got to know and love. We send our deepest condolences to her daughter Fionnuala, sons Colm and Ruairí, daughter-in-law Marija, and her grandchildren Jenny and Max, brothers Feichin, Niall, Declan and Damien, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and her many friends. Hello Fionnuala. I was just made aware of Deirdre's passing. She was a formidable woman and I was lucky to be invited into her home and have lunch with Séamus and herself. To me it was an education to be in her company. She was a feminist long before it was trendy to be one. A fighter for Socialism. There are few people in this world that I respected and herself and Séamus were two of them. The speech she give at the Desmond Greaves School in 2009 and is something I use time after time to educated people. I have given a link to it so that people are reminding of her political thoughts. So long Comrade. My condolences to the wider family circle.

Deirdre & her late Husband were a lovely neighbours to us in here Riverwood Gardens. Deirdre so kindly lent me some seashells she'd collected for my art project. She was a lovely lady and we will miss her presence in Riverwood. Our sympathy goes out to her family.
