Sincere sympathy to Margaret and family on your great loss. We remember Denis as a very cheerful person, as he was when we last saw him singing in a visiting Welsh choir in Clonmel. Ar dheis Dé go raibh Denis anois.
Condolences to the Cagney family on the loss of a true gentleman and earnest scholar. Denis is remembered fondly after 50 years by so many of his schoolmates - that is a genuine testimony to his great qualities of warmth, decency and intellectual rigour. I was abroad and could not attend Denis' funeral. R.I.P.
Sincere sympathy to Margaret and to Denis’s family. We shared the experience of having children attending La Fermette, a school in Wezenbeek -Oppem Brussels and through that I got to know Denis. A very intelligent, able, man with a lovely manner. I had hopes of recruiting him to work with me in the Commission Representation in Dublin but alas it was not to be.
My sincerest condolences to Denis’s family. I was lucky enough to have worked with Denis at the CER/CRU for a number of years and will always remember him as a positive force, very practical and with a fantastic sense of humour.

Denis was a stalwart member of the Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir for over 15 years until his illness deprived us of his company. He was a joy to sing with and had a sweet tenor voice that we all admired - and was always in tune!. His warm and generous personality and his constant and infectious good humour were much appreciated by his fellow choristers.
Sincere condolences to his devoted wife margaret and family and to his many friends. May he rest in peace.
So sad to hear of the loss of Denis. I remember him in Joey's 1966 to 1970. As far as I can remember he was a "tidy footballer". My condolences to his family Ae dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
My sincere condolences to Margaret, Neil, Donagh, Anna and all the Cagney family. Denis was a wonderful classmate in Joey`s and then in 1988 our paths crossed again in Brussels where he and Margaret helped us to settle in, introducing us to so many in the ex-pat community.

Dear Margaret, my sincere condolences to you on the passing of your beloved Denis. While I haven’t met either of you in some years, I will never forget your kindness to me when I taught in Warrenmount. Saddened to hear of Denis' passing, I recall interactions with him early in my career in the electricity industry. He was certainly a gentleman, practical and sincere, and typical of a certain cohort that us young pups looked up to at the time. Doubtless he continued to inspire in many other ways including his response to the circumstances of life. May he rest in peace.
Sincerest condolences Margaret, Donagh, Neil and Anna on the
sad passing of your beloved Denis,
a loving husband and father who cherished all of you and was much loved and cherished in return.
May your wonderful memories of Denis bring you comfort and peace forever.

I knew Denis for a long time, starting in the Department of Finance but more closely in the Commission for Energy Regulation, where he played a big role in getting it up and running successfully. He was always a pleasure to work with, being clear and straightforward at all times and full of ideas.
Denis also mirrored my interest in running and cycling.
It was sad to see his disability progress over recent years but he stayed positive throughout.

So sad to hear of Denis' passing. Remembering the very many happy times shared at work, playing football, golf, running together and the many meals and drinks with families and friends. Remembering especially the short time Denis stayed with us when he was in the process of moving to Brussels. His singing in the bathroom woke us up every morning. Deep condolences to Margaret and family.

Dear Denis when I went to work in CER IN 2005 you were so kind and understanding and the fact we were both from Marino gave us something in common to chat about. You truly were such a gentleman and full of fun and your love of purple snacks was so well known. My thoughts are with your lovely family and thinking of you all at this very sad time. 🙏

May he rest in peace.
My thoughts are with ye at this sad time.
Our most sincere condolences, to all of the Cagney family, on the passing of Denis. May he rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to Margaret and family on the passing of Denis, a man of extraordinary qualities, not least of which were his intellectual agility, his courage and his philosophical depth. He was such scintillating company- brilliant, witty, full of fun and mischief and, when the occasion required it, entertainingly polemical. I will always remember my trip to the U.S. with Denis and some friends back in the early eighties. His wry observations on American life, inter alia, had his travelling companions in an ecstasy of hilarity in the car on our trip along sections of Route 66. He will be sadly missed by his ever-loving wife, Margaret, and his family, along with his many friends, among whom I feel privileged and honoured to be counted. Heaven will be a livelier place for Denis’s having arrived there. May he rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to all the Cagneys. It was always so uplifting and enlightening to bump into Denis on his walks. His recent radio interview was so powerful and he exuded such strength and resilience- a lesson to us all. Rest in peace Denis. Meg, Luke & Nicholas, Serpentine

On behalf of the team at Grant Thornton, our deepest condolences to all of the Cagney family on the loss of a true gent. Denis and his gentle ways were always an absolute pleasure to deal with at every encounter. From meeting him in 2018 right through to his diagnosis and beyond, he never let anything stop him from getting the job done to the standard of quality that he always applied. Blessed to have met him and received some of his vast wisdom. He made a positive impact on each one of the team who worked with him over the past 9 years. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Our deepest sympathy to the Cagney family on the sad passing of Denis. May he rest in peace
Sincere condolences to Margaret and the Cagney family on the sad loss of Denis. We knew him in Brussels and he was always a real gentleman and a lovely person. May he rest in peace.
Farewell Denis and my deepest sympathies to Margaret and family. I have such wonderful memories of Denis. First when we worked together in the Department of Economic Planning and Development in the late 1970’s and later he was a close colleague in CER for over 15 years. He made an enormous contribution to the establishment of the CER. He was fair and balanced at all times and was hugely respected by the electricity and gas industries which we regulated. Most of all he was a team player and hugely admired by all his colleagues. Following his retirement, along with Tom Reeves, we met regularly on the golf course which sadly was cut short by MND. Rest easy now Denis and we are all the better for having known, worked and socialised with you over the years.
Margaret and family im so very sorry to hear this sad news. May Denis rest in peace and look down on his family at this very difficult time.
Deepest condolences to Margaret and family.
