So,so sorry to see this, the passing of Dinny Lowry, my idol. My namesake, as a kid growing up, he was responsible for generating my interest in goalkeeping. Each Monday morning I cut out pictures of him making saves and wanted to be as good as him. He inspired me to become a goalkeeper and then my son followed in my footsteps all due to Dinny. We never met but heard he was living in Meath and was a lovely man to converse with. I will never get that opportunity now. He is the idol I never met but will never forget. R.I.P.

I had the pleasure of geting to know Dinnny when he and his son Derek used to have lunch out in Trim in recent years, and then I had the honour of spending a few hours with him when writing an artcle/interview piece for the Bohemian FC matchday programme.
That article turned out to be a rich chronicle of an illustrious, distinguished career, epitomised by his stellar performance when wining the 1970 FAI Cup with Bohemians. Bohs werent his only club of course and there are League of Ireland people all over the country who admired Dinny as a great goalie and kind person who wil be sad to hear of his passing.
A lovely man, on behalf of all at Bohemian FC, and football fans everywhere, may I once again express sincere sympathy on Dinny's sad passing.

I was at a Shamrock Rovers game on Friday when they announced the sad news of Dinnys passing, I grew up in Perrystown and have fond memories of Dinny, he was a true gentleman. My deepest sympathies to Derek, Elaine and Gillian.

I have an everlasting memory of meeting Dinny during my time at Navan GC. He was such an entertaining man to talk to.
Furthermore I recall Philip Greene expounding the skills of Dinny,Mick Smyth,Pat Dunne,Kevin Blount and of course "Sheila" Darcy between the sticks in the 60s. Dinny was the best of them.

Dinny and Dolores welcomed me and James into their lives with open arms and they were like grandparents to us growing up. I have great memories of trips to Ireland and a family holiday abroad! James and I always laughed at one of Dinny's sayings "when I go to bed, we all go to bed"! A true legend who will be greatly missed!
