We offer sincere and deepest sympathy to his wife and soul mate Sheela, and to all his family, his brother Ciaran, nieces and nephews on the passing of Dinny.
Remembering Dinny Temple as one of the Great Athlone sociable people of our time and one of the most Active and great contributors to his cherished and loved Parish of St Mary’s for much of his life, particularly during the 60’s and 70’s to the present time. His enormous work and contributions to the business community of Athlone with his beloved brother Ciaran, and his well known voluntary and charity work within the Parish over his lifetime was immense. Dinny Temple was a quiet and reserved man of great integrity, who went about his professional work, his personal life, , and in a voluntary capacity with great reserve, dignity and respect.
I have known Dinny Temple over my entire working lifetime and beyond in Athlone and indeed proud to call Dinny Temple a true friend and colleague in all of that time.
I first met Dinny during my national school days as a young boy bringing the Ren Club collections to St Mary’s Hall on a Sunday night in the “Sixties” for counting and recording for the Parish. in my working life, during my admin work in the Sub Aqua club and “Comhairle fo Thuain”, in Coosan Church on Sundays and my visits to his home. each and every one a special memory of Dinny Temple.
When Dinny Temple arrives at the” Perli Gates”, I have no doubt he will ask – Is the Chief at home?.
