Everyone knows that being involved in a Club means that there is always work to be done especially in a small Club when the numbers to do it all are few. A coastal rowing Club involves much more work than many sports because whether it’s a training session or attending a regatta it involves bringing all of the equipment with you to the shoreline and back to the boat shed afterwards all cleaned up for the next time all of which which could be very time consuming. No matter how much time it had taken Barry never minded, he always had the time for a chat and a joke afterwards. Having only one container to store the Clubs boats always was a headache especially with little or no storage close by. Barry willingly allowed the Club to use part of his farm shed to store some of the boats especially during the winter months which was a huge relief for everyone. I could go on forever outlining Barry’s contribution to the Club and I still wouldn’t have told the full story. Suffice to say that we eternally grateful for everything Barry did over many years. I have no doubt that Barry will be welcomed with open arms up there, his Families HUGE LOSS, not to mention our LOSS is their GAIN.

Barry was always a willing hand in the Dock & later Kinsale & Dock Rowing Club. No task was too great for Barry and all done with a smile. When it was all put to bed Barry always had time for a chat and a joke. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Barry there will be forever grateful.

Sincere sympathy to Margaret, Tony and Maria on the passing of Barry one of life's true gentlemen. We knew Barry since our rowing days, he loved to row the boats and always enjoyed the chats and a few laughs while we waited on the wall for our turn to go out on the water, he enjoyed travelling to and competing in the regattas every summer. Barry was a great club man always there to help with all the jobs that needed doing, washing loadings and towing boats provided storage for boats on his own property, strimming the grass in the field around the containers to make easy access for those launching and retrieving the boats all this was done quietly not seeking recognition or praise. Thank you Barry may your kind & gentle soul rest in eternal peace
