Saddened, very much so, to hear last week of the death of Denis, and of course still mourning the loss of Fidelma.
Fidelma and her pals I knew in the dancing days of our youth and then Denis, later, in my working days.
In the last few years we met at Mass on Tuesdays in Harolds Cross.

I'm so sorry to hear about Denis. He was the loveliest Uncle who always kept us entertained growing up with his wonderful stories of Donegal, his daily antics and his views on current affairs. I always remember him being bitterly disappointed that I didn't end up marrying a wee fella from Donegal. However, I did the next best thing marrying a Brummie from King's Heath (where he spent many happy years working in the Hare & Hounds pub before moving back to meet our lovely auntie Lu). He always made time for people, especially his family, and loved them with all his heart. There really wasn't anyone like Den and I know I'll miss him terribly. So sad I wasn't able to make the funeral. Thinking of you all at this awful time, Lu, Lynn, John & family. RIP Denis.

So sorry to hear of the passing of an incredible uncle and a one of a kind character Denis. Have so many great memories from childhood, his legendary black van, his famously light foot on the accelerator, his tales of all things Donegal, his love of browsing the old auction rooms in Rathmines and picking up all sorts of randomness in the pursuit of his first million, his incredible quick wit and ultimately his ability to make people laugh and smile. He really was a one of a kind who has raised 2 great kids into adults (Lynn and John) who are a credit to Lu and himself. Sorry I couldn't make it to Donegal but will be watching on the live stream and thinking about himself and the rest of the family this whole weekend. RIP Denis
