Dear Margaret and Edmund, I only heard today that Mr McCarthy has left us. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a gentleman and a wonderful neighbour. He will be missed.

Denis was a kind and generous uncle. He would regularly visit Kerry with his family, Joan, Eddie and Margaret to stay with his sister Mary. There was always great excitement when our city cousins came to stay, with promises of ice cream and trips to the beach in his trusty Triumph, which was no mean feat, given his sister's 8 children to add to his own. He would make several trips to ferry us out to the beach without complaint. In latter years he travelled by train. He will be sadly missed by us all. May you rest in peace Denis.
