Dear Paula, Denise, Sean and Nuala we are so sorry for your loss. Denis was always such a kind man with a great sense of humour. We looked forward to every Christmas Eve to spending time with him and Mary. Mary would have baked for Cork and Denis would gently tease her that she hadn't done enough. We watched the ceremony online and are certain he would have been very proud of the send-off you gave him. His family were everything to him. May he rest in peace with Mary at his side. I am so proud to call myself his son in law. A beautiful soul passed a few days ago and I feel the poorer for it. He was one of the few gentlemen and gentle man I have had the privilege to know. A scholar a comedian a loving devoted father and husband and grandfather the world is a shade greyer in his absence.

I remember Denis as a gentle man in your home in Doyle Road, then later on South Mall where he would have been the quietest of the Lordan Magnier bunch, and later still at Wilton Shopping Centre where I would bump into him walking with Mary whilst I was out and about with my small girls. They made such a lovely couple. May Denis rest in peace. I was so sorry not to be able to join you in Turners Cross for Mass but I saw from the online stream that you gave him a beautiful send off today.
