Denis O'Shea

We were very sorry to hear of the recent passing of Denis. He was so kind and knowledgeable and we were very grateful for his expertise in St John’s award last summer. He was always generous with his time and so good with our son. Our sincere condolences to his family. We hope that his wonderful legacy brings comfort in the days ahead.

During our time on this earth we may walk through the lives of many people but we tend to leave our footprints in the hearts of only a few. Contrary to this it appears that Denis has with his special skill set and his caring, generous and compassionate nature left lots and lots of special footprints in hundreds of Irish hearts. What a truly amazing legacy for a humble Aussie lad from Malanda. You should be so proud of your little brother Trisha. Thoughts and prayers are with you ...and Denis you are truly missed. Rest in peace cousin.

I am so sad to learn of Denis's passing. He cared for our daughter Isla in the bone marrow transplant unit last summer. He was so warm and so practical. We were always amazed that he managed to get into the room prior to the machines sounding to change her IV meds, such was his kind consideration that we'd get sleep. He shared stories of his trips to Cologne to collect the donated stem cells and it was obvious how much he loved this work. I wanted Isla to send him a drawing of himself on a barge during retirement but we didn't get around to it. He made her smile on days that she didn't feel up to it. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. He was special.

We were so sorry this week to hear about the passing of Denis. He had such a kind and gentle manner caring for Isabelle and helped us to stay positive and hopeful during such a difficult time for our family. We were delighted to see him again prior to his retirement and had hoped this would be a happy and peaceful time for him, so well deserved. Our sincere condolences to his friends and family. We met Denis when we first arrived on St John's ward in Crumlin almost 20 years ago. He was so kind and caring towards our daughter Milly and comforting towards Tara and myself. We'll never forget that time and how we were helped at every stage by Denis and all of the staff there. He was a super nurse and helped many, many people. We'll smile and be thankful when we remember him. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace.

Denis had such a kind heart and caring manner but with the perfect balance of humour. He will always hold a special place in my memory for our time we shared on St Johns Ward. May he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to all the O'Shea family. Denis brought the brightness of the Australian sunshine to the lives of the many children and families he minded so well on Johns Ward. You only had to watch how children reacted to him, their faces would light up, and the giggling and fun would start. Denis had a gift of being able to reach out and communicate with children, and build their trust and friendship. He was a great nurse, and he really cared for the families he met during his time on Johns. As a colleague he had a quick wit, and let you away with nothing! Thanks for the memories from our time working together many moons ago.

So saddened to hear of Denis's passing💔 such a kind hearted, gentle, calming nurse. We met on St. John's Ward like so many. Denis looked after our 6 week old son Dáire , who he affectionately named "Baby D" and "Spud"🩵 He really helped us through our toughest days.
