Fond memories of Denis teaching the CPL and ATPL courses in ALSAA. A great man who was extremely generous with his time and I'm grateful for that. May he rest in peace.
To a Gentleman, May He Rest in Peace. Fondly Remembered
Very sad to hear of Denis's passing. He was a legend in his own lifetime and someone who left an indelible mark on me. I had the pleasure of studying Navigation with Denis in Bolton St in the early 90s. While he probably despaired of us we all got in excess of 90% in our exams. We were afraid not to! My he rest in peace.
Deepest sympathies
My Dad enjoyed lunches with Denis and I thank Denis for having the patience to start me out on this career !!

With deepest sympathy to the Slattery family from across the miles hete in larnaca, Cyprus. Indeed Denis's career touch many regions of thecworld and not least with his Senior Navagational Responsibilities with Royal Jordanian Airlines only one hour from m cyprus to Amman. He will be remembeted fondly for his lively contributions to the wednesday pilots lunches in Portmarnock which my belated father also loved to attend.
With deepest sympathy for your very great loss.

How privileged I was to have known Denis. How I enjoyed chatting with him about the various techniques used to navigate in a pre-GPS world.
Last of a generation of immensely skilled professionals.

May he Rest in Peace
Happy memories of Dennis coming to lunch with my mother many, many years ago in Glaunsharoon and listening intently as Dennis told fascinating stories of times past mixed with a variety of long winded jokes which had an elusive punchline. His timing was theatrical. These lunches are very vivid in my mind. I felt that I was in the presence of not only a relation but a good friend. There was a strong friendship between my mother and Dennis which she greatly valued.
I was very sad to hear of Denis' death. I spent a memorable day with him in January 1992 and I learned of his adventures and his love of precision while completing the necessary skills of navigation for pilots. I can't help but still enjoy doing units conversions to 9 decimal places!
Denis was generous with his time, knowledge and resources and I am forever grateful.
My sincere sympathy to Denis' family and close friends.
He left his mark on our minds as much as on his innumerable charts.
He will be remembered with affection.
What a legend Dennis was! He taught us Navigation many moons ago, in preparation for a Flight Dispatchers License. Condolences to his family and friends.
A perfect old school gentleman and always a pleasure to fly with. I am sure that you are still on track as you make your way heavenward.
Deepest sympathy to the Slattery family on the very sad passing of Denis. Denis was a very dear friend of Maurice’s for many years.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to the Slattery family on the passing of Denis he was an absolute Legend, only for him I wouldn’t be where I am today,Rest In Peace Denis.
My sympathy to the Slattery family on their loss. Despite the unkind remark that 'Slattery gets you nowhere' he has assuredly found a track heavenwards in the very professional approach he took to his work. His sense of the serious was lightened when he mentioned that he always checked the position of the inter-tropical front before deciding on a holiday destination thus ensuring balmy sunshine every time. The light of Heaven to you, Denis.
With our most sincere condolences to the Slattery family. The world of aviation will never quite be the same again without our "Mr. Mercator". Rest in peace Denis.
The aviation fraternity will never forget you Denis, a scholar and a gentleman and a total character. May you rest in peace.
My sincere sympathies to the Slattery family on your loss.
Thanks for all you taught us.
Still remember it and use much of it to this day.
Sincere Condolences to the family
To all the Slattery family I’m very sorry for your great loss at this sad time
