Dear Pádraig and family,
We're heartbroken at the loss of Denis. We'll miss hearing him singing by the quays in Cobh, and of course joining his memorable Fairhill sessions. He always gathered a fine group of musicians and friends together. He was a fantastic balladeer, musician and poet, and Jimmy used many of his songs in his Echo column.

Since the inception of FaceBook, we have seen many scribblers compose articles wholly unacceptable to news-media editors.
For me, from the moment I first read a Denis Twohig Post, I was smitten.
This was an UnHeralded unknown professional on Facebook.
No foul words in print,just plain daily spoken words uttered by thousands of real Corkonians in a simplistic style, reserved for the very best scribes.

I contacted Denis and I found a rather shy person, with zero big notions on his own abilities. He was entirely different to the vast majority of regular Facebook contributors.
Denis could cross over writing from one suject to another and retain a readers intense interest. That was truly unique.
A Writer for ANY TEAM.

It was on an Exile's (Donie Carroll) Facebook post I became aware of Denis's sudden passing. Simply not real, but yes, none of us are bullet proof.

Cork's historic authors are many,but for Corkonian StoryTelling, northsider, Denis Twohig, sits proudly amongst the Greatest & most Gifted Authors in our HALL FAME IRELAND & HALL FAME CORK register of FAMOUS CORKONIANS. That's for another time.

Long Condolence I'm aware, but very worthy of the person I now Posthumously salute.
