Deepest sympathy
Dearest Therese, Lorraine, Ken, Nora, Sam, Jake and Lorcan, we offer our sincere condolences to you on the passing of your beloved Derek. We couldn’t have better next door neighbours for the past 45 years. And for inviting me into the Bohs for the past 25 years. Every Monday night I drove Derek, Fred Carroll, Fr. Denis Foley and Jack Swan to the Bohs. Derek was a great organiser, he was a stalwart of the Bohs ( having been his presented with his 50 year Badge last year), CY Cricket Club, The Lord’s Taverners and the Irish Cricket Union. We are sure he will rest in peace. He deserves it. Sleep well.
Sincere condolences to Therese, Ken, Lorraine and Nora on Derek’s sudden passing. Fond memories of ‘doing a lap’ around CYM with him many a time, although I was never a member of the ‘gang of five’. Had a good chat with him at June Morgan’s funeral very recently and has only been sent a picture of him last weekend with ex colleagues PG Hoey and Paul Farrell. Couldn’t believe it when I heard he had passed. May he rest in peace with the Lords.
To Therese, Ken and family, my deepest condolences on your sudden and sad loss. I always enjoyed Derek’s wit and intelligence and appreciate his great contribution to Terenure Sports Club (CYM). May he rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to Therese, Ken and all the extended family. Derek was a constant in my days at CYM Cricket and was always a pleasure to meet.

He has left a wonderful legacy behind him for his work with The Lord's Taverners, Ireland.

Sleep well, Derek.

May Derek Rest in Peace.
To Nora and all the Brennan family, deepest sympathy to you all, thinking of you at this very sad time
Very sad news indeed. My sincerest condolences go to all close to him.

My first encounter with him saw me facing this nagging persistent bowler who refused to give an easy run. The young me decided that I didn't like him very much. Then I met him off the pitch.

He was full of cricket, gave his advice freely when asked, was so very astute in his observations, was wryly funny, and was always a delight to meet at a match. He was a great ambassador for CYM and the game in general.

He will be sorely missed.
My sincere condolemces to all of the Brennan family on your loss.
I have many fond memories of Derek from my childhood and teenage years. He was always so interested in everything we did and enjoyed a good conversation and debate over the dinner table. He was a larger than life presence and i know you will all miss him dearly. His energy always shone so brightly.
May the love you all share comfort you at this time.
It was with huge shock and enormous sadness that I learned about the unexpected passing of Derek. He was always such a gentleman full of great advice and wit. I will always treasure the wonderful evenings of music and fun spent in his company along with his beloved Therese and cherished children Lorraine, Nora and Ken. May angels guard and guide you to God’s heavenly kingdom, Derek, to rest in eternal blessed happiness.
My sincere condolences to Derek's family and friends. Derek was a gentleman who lead Lord Taverners Ireland with great integrity in their ongoing support of young people with a disability particularly in the IWA. May He Rest in Peace.

Sincere condolences to Therese, Ken, Lorraine and Nora on the sad and untimely death of Derek. A true CY cricket man and a great cricket fan. Derek was a total gentleman who aspired to the highest standards and was a great example to all. He was quite simply a colossus when it came to The Lords Taverners Ireland. Instrumental in setting up of LTI his organizational and leadership skills were a joy to behold. It was an absolute honour and privilege to have served under Derek's Chairmanship of The Lords Taverners luncheon Committee. Each year was more successful both in terms of success and in fundraising for worthy causes. Without Derek's leadership and enthusiasm these lunches quite simply would not have happened. He will be missed terribly by all his Lords Taverners friends.
Ken & family thinking of you all at this sad time. May your Dad rest in peace xx
Our deepest sympathies to Therese, Ken and all the Brennan family on the sad passing of your beloved Derek.

A straight-talker, a great thinker, a man of the highest integrity, a cricket man but most of all, Derek was a great family man and a loyal friend.

Alongside Gerry Hoey & Paul Farrell, Derek was there for us in the most challenging of times and we will always be grateful for his wise counsel and enduring support.

May Derek rest in eternal peace.

Philip, Shirley, James, Matthew, Jessica & Caroline Smith
