Condolences to the Byrne family at this sad time. I had the great pleasure of working with Derek during my years at Guinness. He was a gentleman, generous, great company, special "type of wit" which was wonderful. He always appeared in good humour and he was just a really "great guy" A sad loss.

Derek has been a great friend and neighbour since he moved to Drapers Bridge on the Canal in Tenelick. Always pleasant to meet and have a chat. Sympathy to all the family.

I have such fond memories of Derek who had the most wicked sense of humour, who was kind, caring and thoughtful. He worked so hard in the Guinness Brewery all his life to provide a very comfortable and privileged life for you all. I remember all the wonderful adventure toys he built for you boys and the amazing Catamaran he built on which you all went on so many trips. I hope you all can take a little comfort now that Derek is no longer suffering or in pain and that he is at peace now in Heaven, where he so richly deserves to be. My love and prayers are with you all at this very sad time.

To the family of Derek. I am so sad to hear of his passing. A lot of us ex Brewery Lab boys remember him very fondly and wherever we went, after the lab, we were always a brotherhood of Lab boys. God mind you our brother. 🙏
