It was a great pleasure to have known Derek while he was in hospital in Dublin. We enjoyed many strolls and long conversations, in particular, about his love for motorbikes. He was a kind and compassionate person, and above all, a great friend. He will be sorely missed. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
