Derek you were larger than life. A great and generous character with a crazy sense of humour. When I think of Italy I always remember our holiday there with you and the lads in the 1970s. You will be greatly missed. Skipper dunne, formerly Rosemount FC.

Really awful news and so very sad that Derek has been taken from this world way too soon.

So many fond memories of Derek from back in the day and just writing about them now is making me smile. No surprises there !

The world is definitely a lot darker without your brother Derek, his razor sharp wit and gift for telling stories in a way you never forgot! Derek has a true talent for entertaining. It’s truly awful to lose him in this way with such forced distance between you all.
