We attended the funeral online from Hong Kong and we were truly touched by the ceremony and words of the eulogy shared by Stephen - there was a sincere sense of knowing who Derek was and the amazing life he enjoyed with you and your family. We felt and experienced the memories, the joys, the fun, and the laughter (spaghetti eating contest).

I’m very sad that Derek has gone - he was a lovely uncle and I have some fond memories of him, when we were kids, as well as the kindness and hospitality he and Eileen showed me when I lived in Dublin 2008 - 2010.

To Dereks family, what a huge loss. So sudden I imagine you are reeling from what has happened. I regularly met Derek in the Silver Spoon, along with many others. He was great company, could talk on a whole range of subjects and was as sound as a pound. We were both in our element when discussing family, and he was so proud of all of you. A number of-years ago I was struggling running a Facebook Security group for the community. He was the first person I called upon. His advice was spot on and I-relied heavily on his opinion. My heart goes out to all of you. May Derek rest in peace. A huge loss to all.
