To Derek’s wife , children , his mam and dad his mother and father in law and his relatives and friends,and all who knew and loved him , it’s so shocking that someone leaves the house to go to work and never comes back , it’s heartbreaking, sending love and support to you all , anyone who heard about this tragedy would have been touched by it and saddened, we are all very sorry for your terrible loss , I know words don’t mean anything at the moment, but in time you will feel a bit better than you do now ,Derek is looking down on you all and he is so sad for all your suffering, he will help you to say strong , sincere condolences to all ,, so very sorry for this ,, will always think about you all and pray for you ,some day you will get peace back ,, Derek will help wit that x

A week on, we cannot express our heartfelt sympathy enough to Dereks family..we havent stopped thinking and praying for him and especially his wife, children, parents and siblings..we have a daughter of that age..we were on the M50 very close to the scene of the accident as the time.

I was Derek's Chief in Wheatfield Prison and he was a absolute character, I man I admired and a officer I knew fellow recruits would aspire to be like. I will miss are chats about how best way to sow grass seeds. RIP Derek

I worked with Derek in wheatfield prison, he was a legend, he was a super officer and the only officer I ever said to it was a positive and not a negative. He was the best class officer ever I worked with. RIP Blondie
