The last time I saw Derek was in my parent's house in Goatstown, Derek's mum Patty was my dad's sister and they lived round the corner. He was about seven, a beautiful little boy with big brown eyes and a happy smiling personality. I recognised that little boy in the photo of the grown man. Rest in peace Derek.

Absolutely shocked to hear of Derek's recent passing.
I grew up with Derek in the early 80's and still have fond memories playing "soliders" in the field, building huts and general messing about.
He was always a great friend back then and his kindness never changed in later years.

Such sad news. I have very fond memories of Derek as a kid in our house and the conversations he and my father would have. A lovely kid who grew into a lovely adult. Gone to the great gig in the sky but far to soon.
Turn up the volume Derek and rock in peace.

Our paths crossed a number of times back in the day: family connection, shared interest in music scenes, sound production, psycological things and a scattering of umpteen other diverse themes.
We are now bidding Derek a fond goodbye and on such an occasion, my thoughts inevitably go to the bereaved, those left behind.

condolences to Derek's family, knew him from long ago during his days as a drummer and then we met again when he worked for Glyder as a sound engineer, he was a brilliant sound engineer, although I had not seen him since 2010 he was on my mind the day before I heard the sad news, he was a deep thinker, an erudite and standup guy who was so right about the many things he spoke about when we traveled around to gigs in the band van, RIP Murph.
