I got to know Derek in the spring of 2011 when sitting above in the yard he drove by in a 07 New Holland with a diet feeder behind , he had a good tight haircut at the time i think. He gave me a big wave and smile and away down the lane. I said to myself you don't meet people like Derek every day happy and jolly. I've met Derek hundreds of times since and the same big smile and wave everytime .Rest In Peace Derek you will be missed.

Derek was a true gentleman, who I feel lucky to have been coached by and coached with. Derek always had time for a chat, he was someone who would leave you in better humour having spoken with him, always met with light-heartedness and a “well buddy” or a big wave on the road. Derek is and will continue to be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure knowing him.
