Dermot was a wonderful Uncle who even when I was a child took time to talk to me about history and music. He taught my children how to dive on family holidays. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy and love to Carol, Barbara, Stephen and Emma. And to all the Allen family.

Dermot was an incredibly kind and compassionate person. He was always delighted to have a chat with anyone about anything and everything. My deepest condolences to Carol, Barbara, Stephen and Emma.

Our 'Uncle Dermot' was often in Maywood sharing stories of his eventful life when we were young and in primary school. He had us captivated and enraptured. His love and passion for music and playing the guitar was a pure joy to be around. He was not only a respectable in-law to our father, Danny, but a very close friend and diving/beagling/hillwalking companion to him too. He was funny and effervescent, possessed a fine wit, was utterly charming and just lovely. We all loved him. And now our memory of him is one of fondness and total affection. Thinking of all the Allen family at this sad time. Mind yourselves. Rest in Peace 'Uncle Dermot'. Much love, from your sister Pauline, nieces Karen, Janet, Linda and the late Cliona and nephew, Cormac.

Sending all my love to Carol, Babz, Stephen and Emma on the passing of the their wonderful Dad. Dermot was a gentlemen with a quick wit and an ear for wonderful stories and could tell them too. He would do anything at a drop of the hat for anybody and always put others above himself. I'll have fond memories of him and his love for music which is carried on through Babz, Stephen and Emma. An excellent musician and could belt out some great numbers. Rest well Dermot and see you on the otherside.

We at DSV Solutions’, Santry, worked alongside Dermot for many years and we are very sorry to hear of his passing. We will remember him fondly as a man with a huge depth of general knowledge as well as an interest in a broad range of subjects which always made him a lively person to encounter in the corridor, or canteen, of our shared offices.
