I know it hurt you
It hurt me too
And now that you're gone
All I know is I miss you.
You were there for so long
I never thought you would leave
I thought you had another year
waiting up your sleeve.
The day that you left
was the saddest of my life
I remember sitting at home
Crying all day and all night.
I might be selfish
But I wish you were here
Or if you stayed
For one more year.
I know you love me
and I still love you too
So I'm trying to be strong
Just for you.
I know I'm not perfect
I know I'll never be
I just hope you're just up there
And that you're proud of me.
You had to let go
Even though you were holding on for so long
But there's not a day I don't think of you
And how you were so strong.
I just want to tell you
That you're always in my heart
Even though I still cry
I know we're not apart.
Thinking of you Granddad <3

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
**Canon Henry Scott-Holland, 1847-1918, Canon of St Paul's Cathedral

A Remarkable Husband, a remarkable father and a remarkable man. Sorely missed, there is a certain peace in knowing that he left the world a far better place by being here.
Just a short note from his loved and loving son Paul.
R.I.P. until we meet again.
