Very sad to hear of Dermot’s death. I met him years ago in Galway when I shared a house with him and his brother Brian. Sincerest condolences to all his family at this very sad time. He was a lovely guy.

We were heartbroken to hear the sad news. We know words won't undo the loss and pain felt; only but to comfort in grief... to ease the pain. Our sincerest condolences to you Jenny, Nathan, and Mark. And to Dermot's immediate family.

May he survive in the memories that have been made in his time that was too short.

Rest... peace be with you.
I went to school with Dermot in St Fintans and always remember him as a wonderful sportsman, football, running etc. We met years later many times In Raheny.
Condolences to all of his family, may he Rest In Peace.
So sorry to hear about Dermot. We worked together for some years and he was a super guy. Dedicated in all that he tackled, work , play and family. I met him in September and he told me the devastating news. Can’t beleve he’s gone. RIP
Words of sympathy seem very inadequate when someone is taken way too early . But I hope you can take some conciliation Jenny in the beautiful tributes paid to Dermot and the high regard in which he was held by so many. Sending you and your boys so much love ,
I was overwhelmed with sadness on hearing that Dermot had passed. I cannot think of any word that is capable of expressing how very sorry I feel Jenny for you , your family, Dermots family and your 2 beautiful boys . If there is any shred of consolation to be taken now it has to be here in the wonderful words that people are writing in Tribute to Dermot . It seems that he was one incredible human. How proud his sons can feel to see that he was held in such enormously positive regard by all who knew him . Rest in Peace Dermot
Our hearts ache with sadness for Jenny, Nathan, Max and the family.
A son, brother, husband, father, son in law, brother in law, friend of and to so many, Dermot lived his life embraced by those who loved him. Forever in our hearts and prayers. Fly with the Angels Dermot.
Sad, just very sad.
It’s been many years since I have last seen Dermot but was curious of his well-being through his closest friends. You will hear of the many praises of such a popular individual for good reason. One of the characteristics that comes to mind is he was a very generous man. Had great athletic ability, spoke to all and gave his time to many. I enjoyed fond memories and laughter.

Nathan and Max, know your Dad was a guy’s guy. A great guy, period. He made friends with many people from across the world and you will know why. I know he fought so hard with this battle, as you all did as a family, with such bravery. I question why certain individuals get dealt with such a health challenge, maybe it’s so we call all learn from them.

Jenny, Nathan, Max and family please accept our deepest condolences and know you are in our thoughts. May you find strength and courage in knowing that Dermot meant so much to others. I am very sorry for your loss.

Andy Fitzgerald and Family – Denver, Colorado.

My sincere condolences to the family of Dermot. I am very sorry for your loss. A donation has been made to the Irish Cancer Society.
My heartfelt condolences to Dermot’s family & friends. I was a classmate of Dermot's in St. Fintan's National School for eight years; in Ms O'Sullivan's and then in Mr Reilly's class. The news of his death has hit all his former classmates hard. It has come as a shock, as Dermot was always the fittest of us. At sprinting, at Gaelic football, at rugby. You just don't imagine illness striking a man like Dermot down.

Though geography meant I had not seen much of him in recent years, anytime I did bump into him back in Sutton or Howth he was always friendly and chatty. One of the good guys. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Deepest condolences to the family of Dermot. RIP
