David, Louise, Aoife and Patrick - I am so sorry that you, Tamso, Vicky and Kevin are now grieving the loss of Dermot …too soon after the loss of Ann.

They were a part of our family celebrations in Rosetown down through the years and were especially welcoming of my late parents, and all of us from Ballysally. We have lovely memories of those times.

I know he will be greatly missed by Jim, Evelyn, Fidelma and Caroline to whom he was more than a brother in law.
I am thinking of you all and am truly sorry that I couldn’t make it on Saturday but you were all in my thoughts over the weekend.

‘Great grief is born only of great love’
I had the great privilege to meet Dermot via Charlie O'Neill in Abbeylands in Clane. Dermot was a truly ''larger than life'' charachter. A man of immense patience and kindness, especially to a ''chancer'' such as I who knew little if anything of equstrian pursuits. My neighbour in Athy, Des Perry and his family were friends and business partners of Dermot also. Dermot was a man of his word, a gentleman and a sportsman of note. Dermot leaves a legacy of warmth and affection to and from those who had the great pleasure to pass along the very many routes travelled in his company. he will be sorely missed by all. Rest In Peace, Mick Hogan.

A generous and true gentleman has left us.

Both the Kelly Family & the O'Reilly family arrived into Castlemartin in 1973..
We became neighbours and good friends of both Dermot & Ann Cox with our land boundaries and through the purchase of 300 acres of exceptional good land from Dermot Cox it consolidated the lands of Castlemartin Stud.
The friendship grew between both Families as a direct result of that first event.
Dermot was an exceptional good business man ,very honest and trustworthy in his dealings with us..He was responsible for introducing the O'Reillys to Punchestown racing festival and as a result we had many glorious happy outings at Punchestown.
Dr O'Reilly loved National Hunt Racing and having his colours the black and white hoops of Belvedere College carried on his horses with trainers Mouse Morris, John Harty & Arthur Moore.
He loved meeting the National Hunt people as he would say to me they are the " People of the Land" " The Salt of the Earth People "easy to talk to and identify with and he felt very comfortable in their presence.
Dermot Cox was one of those great persons.
Thanks Dermot for your friendship your kindness and good deeds over the last 50 years.
We were fortunate to have such good neighbours and had deep admiration and respect for each other.
Rest in Peace with your beloved Ann which you both richly deserve after a full life together on this earth.
Cherished childhood memories of ‘The Speed Boat Man' in Dingle, sailing and singing on the Rebecca, chasing Fungi on the speed boat, then into Harrington's for a feast of chips. Or rainy days at the cinema where he insisted we had the top shelf sweets. He was like James Bond. Fantastic fun.
A special man who made people feel equally as special.
Codladh sámh Dermot.
