I joined him in the Development department in 1979 and for a period of 25yrs participated with him in the industrial developments in Sandyford & Cherrywood and the acquisition of land for the M50. He was always very helpful and supportive in all our dealings and a loyal friend. May in rest in Eternal Peace.

Niamh and Family, I am sure Dermot looking down, would have been so proud of you all for the wonderful family contribution you each made at his funeral mass which was such a beautiful tribute to Dermot reflecting everything good about him and your family. Sincere condolences to Veronica and family on the passing of Dermot. He oversaw the smooth transfer of the Dublin County Planning Dept to the newly created DLRCC in the early 1990's. This was a complex merger of Authorities and their staff requiring a sensitive and diplomatic touch. The transition was completed smoothly and on time under Dermot's leadership.
I worked closely with him in the Planning Dept and he was a great inspiration to me. He was a true gentleman and kept the Faith to the end.

He was very fair and firm, straight and honest in a stressful high-level role at that time. Yes, he was known as "The Drummer" by those of us at the coalface!
