So sorry to hear of Dermot's passing. I have very fond memories of him and his great pal and colleague, Paddy Comiskey, regaling me in the early 1960s with their tales of "the old days" in Irish Lights, where I had recently begun my working life. Manys a hairbrained business scheme was conceived between us over a pint, but common sense luckily always prevailed before any real damage was done!
Dermot was a kind-hearted and humble person, equipped with a much understated intellect and also an engaging conversationalist.
You will be missed, even from afar. May your soul rest in peace. Your godson, Sean
