Dermot and myself played around the middle of the field together for Scoil in the 1970’s. He was a giant of a man on and off the field and always had words of encouragement for younger players breaking into the senior ranks. A great clubman.

So sorry to hear of Dermot's passing. I got to know Dermot when we started training for the Gardai at the Training Centre in Templemore, 30/11/'77 group, he was the senior member of the group. Deeply saddened to hear of Dermot’s passing. He was a true gentleman, warm-hearted, generous, and someone who lifted the spirits of everyone around him. His kindness, his winning smile, his depth of loyalty and commitment to family and friends was enduring.

Paying respects at his home this evening one was immediately struck by the outpouring of love and affection as friends and neighbours quietly gathered to bid him a final farewell.

Fond memories of Dermot will forever live on in the minds of all of us who were lucky enough to know him.
