My deepest condolences to Dave and all the family on the sad loss of his beloved Dad. I never had the privilege of meeting Dermot but his eulogy and messages tell a story of an amazing man and of a life well lived that left a lot of wonderful memories.
Remembered Joy:
"I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy”.

Our sincere condolences to Dermot’s wonderful family on their loss. He was a unique person from many perspectives and we were fortunate to have had been friends of Dermot in his later years in Florida. May he rest in peace.
One of the last of the Great Characters lost to us. We are so lucky to have been part of all the gatherings at the House on the Beach for so many years. Dermot and Maureen brought us all together and we had so much craic agus ceoil, trips to far lands, many 19 th hole dinners, and wonderful friendship. There’s a hole in my heart.

May the love of family and friends that surround you give you peace and comfort during this challenging time.
I will always cherish the many happy times and wonderful memories we shared together. I would say Maureen, my Craig, Paul McMullan and Pat O’Callaghan are welcoming Dermot with a glass of Irish.
GOD’S GARDEN God looked around his garden and found an empty place, He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.
He saw your path was difficult and he closed your weary eyes, He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly.
It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.
RIP Dermot

Wow what a man. What a life. What a family. We all loved Dermot for his energy, his vivacity, his joie de vivre, and his songs! He was a unique and unforgettable character to be sure. He and Maureen made a perfect duo, complementing each other in every way. I remember so well how welcoming Maureen and Dermot always were. They would throw open their doors and their arms - their home always felt like your home too. Such exceptional people. It’s really rare to find. I am proud and happy to have known them so well and been part of the extended family and have so many happy memories of Florida - the farm, the lake, the beach hous;, Kinsale too… All unforgettable memories...
The tight bond all you O’Connors siblings have is testament to your upbringing - you were taught that family matters. And sticking together matters the most. It’s wonderful that you had Dermot’s 92nd birthday so recently and so many of you were able to be with him for that. It was like a living wake - absolutely a wonderful family celebration. It’s something for you all the cherish now.
Dermot’s passing is really a celebration of a life well lived. 92 years is a great age in anyone’s books. Dermot lived well, loved well and was always ready to laugh well too.
Thinking of you all now and know how much you will miss him 🌺

Dermot and Maureen were the most wonderful, welcoming, warm people on the planet. As a young boy and friend to their great children Ailish, Steve, Pete, David & Johnny, I was a regular visitor to their home whether in 4950, Reddington Beach, Cove Bend Ranch or Kinsale. A beautiful family in every sense, a friendship that began as schoolboys at Clongowes Wood College and flourished around the globe. I feel especially lucky and privileged to still be close to this very special clann. Rest In Peace dear Dermot and Maureen, John, Yandan and Daniel ❤️ 🙏
