We were so sorry to hear of the passing of wonderful, inspiring Dermot.
Dermot was an engaging, intuitive, brilliant teacher and motivational mathematician who inspired Alannah and Hugh and helped them so much. They looked forward to learning and lessons with Dermot.
An utter gentleman and so interested in his students. Always a joy to chat to.
We will miss his gentle way.
Sincere condolences to his family
I still remember Dermot’s applied maths classes over 25 years on. He was truly one of a kind.
I echo what has been written already and would like to express my own gratitude and deep respect for a wonderful teacher.
We were all very sad to learn this week of Dermot’s passing.
We are all very sad we did not get a chance to say good-bye.
He was a wonderful teacher and a great man to find the key to unlock his students potential.
Dermot was a very private man but he was a wonderful mentor to so many people who both loved Maths and detested the subject. He was an inspiration to everyone who walked in his door. We are all so sad that we did not have the opportunity to thank Dermot for all the good work he did in the world. He has left a great legacy of students who were inspired by his teaching and often times as a result of his sessions found ways to unlock their best potential.
Dermot was kind and quirky and always loved his chats with his students.
His greatest asset was that he was interesting and also very interested in his students and always found ways to motivate even his most challenging pupils. We hope he is somewhere peaceful with lots of books and plenty of Apple Pies.
May he rest in eternal peace.
