I will never look forward to getting my hair cut as much as with Derry. The stories, jokes and the odd tip! he was just an amazing character not to mention the fabulous hair cuts. Condolences to Aideen and family.

To Aideen & family, I was very sorry to hear the sad news of Derry's death.
He was always very friendly & courteous to his clients and the obvious high regard that the staff of Pzazz had for him was a tribute to him as an employer.
His pride in & love for Megan, Lake, Beth and his beautiful granddaughter Lily was plain for all to see as was the great love and partnership he shared with Aideen.

My deepest condolences to you all on the passing of Derry. I had the absolute pleasure of Derry cutting my hair for over 20 years. We had great chats and laughter over the years. Derry achieved so much in life, celebrating 40 years in business in 2021, his 70th birthday to how he came second in an all Ireland long distance race to beating Eamon Coughlin in a race! We chatted about anything and everything. Derry was just over the moon to meet his granddaughter. He was just a fabulous gentleman and is missed dearly.

Aideen & family, my sincere condolences on the passing of your lovely Derry.
I first met Derry at age 25 in Fade St salon. Nobody else has ever cut & styled my hair other than Derry. I followed him to Pzazz in Powers-court, then Pzazz in Booterstown, then Pzazz in Stillorgan & finally in the current salon in Stillorgan.
He was one in a million, full of fun & laughter. He’ll be missed so much

Aideen, I’m so sorry to hear of Derry’s passing. He was a wonderful stylist and especially over the past 8 years he was always positive and seeing the good side of life. It was with deep sadness that I learned recently of Derry's death. I had the greatest regard for him. He was such an impressive and irrepressible man - always in good form no matter what treatment he had just undergone or was going through.

Even though I knew he had just come out of hospital and was very unwell the last time I was in the salon, I fully expected him to stage another comeback as he had bravely done so many times before.

I was utterly shocked to hear that this was not the case and I wouldn't see his mischievous face or share banter with him again after over 40 years of great haircuts. He was part of my life

My deepest sympathy to Aideen, Megan, Luke and Beth and to Lily who brought him such joy. You will all miss that lovely man so much. You were his life. May he rest in the peace he so richly earned till you meet again.

Dear Aideen,
It is with great sadness that I have just heard of death of your beloved Derry. It has been my pleasure to have known Derry as my stylist and friend for more years than I care to remember.
Derry Dowling was one lovely soul, always full of fun, good humor, with a sharp wit, but above all a true gentleman.
Please accept my deepest sympathy and convey my heartfelt sorrow to your children and extended Dowiling family at this very sad time. There is no doubt our world is much the poorer for his passing.

I had the good luck to have Derry as my hair stylist from his early years in Fade Street up to my Christmas hair style just over two months ago. He was always funny , good humoured and quick witted. Not only was he very skilled at his craft but i am sure all his many clients would agree that you were highly entertained with his endless funny stories.The world is a duller place without him.I can only imagine the large void he has left in the lives of his family.But no doubt he has left a store of great memories that will ease your loss.Rest in peace Derry .

Aideen , so sorry to hear of Derry's passing. Condolences to and all your family. I am so pleased I got the opportunity to meet up with both you and Derry in ballinteer house in September last . It was lovely to chat to Derry about the days in fade street and with you about woodpark . One of my fondest memories of Derry was when I got the lift home from work in fade street during the bad snow storm and Derry had to abandon the car on a hill near foster avenue as the car couldn't make it up the hill .We had to walk home through the thick snow. It took us hours to get to ballinteer but it was such a laugh . Look after yourself Aideen and your family at this difficult time . Rest in peace Derry.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You and Derry were always such an amazing couple. I have such great (blurry) memories of you two and all the Lacey clan around that special corner at the Balinteer Inn(?). It was always fun to see you both at Pzazz Powerscourt and Davy Byrnes for Christmas Eve drinks. Derry was such a lovely guy. Sincere sympathy to you and your family.

I know that Derry was a great character with a kind heart & the tributes you paid to him at his funeral mass summed up how special he was to each of you. I hope that the great memories that you have will help as you navigate this most difficult time. The bravery Derry showed throughout his illness was inspiring, always a joke & a smile to accompany the hair cut! He frequently referenced the great family support which he received throughout his illness which helped him enormously. Derry will be sorely missed! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
