Sincere condolences to all the Whitelaw family on Derry's passing. He broke my heart a number of years ago caddying for the great Ned Reilly (who was well into his '70's) to put me out at quarter final stage of the Captain's Prize in Mullingar.....on the 15th Ned asked what will I hit, to which Derry replied, while simultaneously pulling the 4 iron out of the bag, "Here hit this (never told him what club it was), you've been hitting it great all day". Ned duly knocked it onto the green, sank the putt and that spelled the death knell for my ambitions in the Captain's. They had a great chuckle about it in the bar afterwards.......my caddy on the day was the late Sean Thornton........what memories........may they all rest in peace. FORE......we won't be that far behind ye!
