Dervilla O'FLANAGAN

I was very saddened to hear of Dervilla’s passing. We had many happy days together in school, but haven’t seen each other in a long time. My sympathies to Brona, Karl and families.

Sincere condolences to you all on the passing of Dervilla. I have fond memories of her at Mount Pleasant LTC on Friday nights and on the tennis holidays. She was always so welcoming to everyone, especially to new members. I'll miss our chats and friendship.

I worked with Dearvilla for many years at Horkan's Super Valu and am so sad to hear of Dearvilla's passing. We had many chats across the tills over the years. Thinking of her family during this time. May she rest in peace.

I was so sorry to hear of the untimely passing of Dervilla, my Mum, Ros’ dear friend. She was such a lovely lady. I would often answer the phone to her when she’d call our house for a chat and always knew it was her. Thinking of all her family at this very difficult time and sending lots of love x

Absolutely devasted and so saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Dervilla. I am now lost in many memories of playing together on hockey tours both for Maids of the Mountain HC where Derv always obliged when we needed a touring goal keeper and then latterly when she introduced me to her delightful teammates in the Loreto HC Veterans side with whom she and I shared so much laughter, fun and friendship while at hockey festivals together over the years.

We had a get-together only in February, and Dervilla was on great form. It's hard to believe she is no longer with us.

Sincere sympathies to Karl, Brona and extended family. I am so grateful to have known Dervilla and so enjoyed her company in Mount Pleasant Tennis Club; we spent more time in the bar, on the balcony, sitting on a bench than on court; we could take or leave tennis and when we did play we matched each other with our lack of exertion.

We chatted so much, we laughed so much, we confided in each other so much, we had so much in common and we really were “two peas in a pod”.

It felt very different going to the Tennis Club last Friday night; MP just will not be the same.

I will so miss Dervilla’s magnetic personality, her hearty laugh, her quick wit, her side glances, her nods, her infectious laugh, the fun we had together and her empathy.

Her love for her family may never be doubted; being a sister and an aunt meant the world to her.

Mount Pleasant have lost a very much loved member ; a member who has left the very best of memories. x

I am so very shocked and upset to hear about Dervilla...she was our goalkeeper for many many years and since we retired she never missed our team gathetings and catch ups! She was always so delighted to see us all and so interested in every one of us. She will be sadly missed...it just won't be the same without Dervilla! MAY SHE REST IN PEACE

Very shocked and saddened to hear about Dervilla's passing. I would really have liked to attend her funeral, but unfortunately, I've come down with the flu. She was always warm and kind to me since I joined the club over 10 years ago. I still remember when she won Wimbledon tickets one year and offered them to me because she couldn’t attend. She was a cornerstone of the club and will be sorely missed. May she rest in peace.

Dervilla was my favourite customer and always brightened my day . She truly exuded warmth and kindness and she had a beautiful soul . I will miss her coming into centra to get her coffee, Freddo bar and apple pie and ask me for updates about my life . I would like to offer my Sympathies to Dervilla lovely Sister Brona what a pet she is and her lovely brother Karl who Dervlila often mentioned them to me and she always said how much she loved them-I will light a candle and say a few prayers for Dervilla and her family.

This is my 2nd funeral this week as I was at another close friend of mine who I knew 30 years Trudy Keegan who lived across the road from Dervilla they were good neighbours.

I knew Dervilla 13 years as I was a member of Mount Pleasant Tennis club and she loved the social scene and I used to give her coaching on a Saturday afternoon she loved it -we had coffee after that-I left mount Pleasant in 2019 but we kept in contact as I lived in Harold's Cross I meet her for coffee near Supervalu in Rathgar -and ironically I text Dervla last week about Trudy’s passing she was saddened but also grateful of my phone call to her on the 23rd of March.

Dervla was a very thoughtful person -A very loving person and caring -I used to give her tips on the Grand National eg Tiger Roll and Coarch Rambler she was appreciating of it as they won. Dervla was always in the winner’s enclosure in my book when we had Covid I often met her for Coffee and offered to cut her Grass and do planting take up weeds.
Dervla, had 3 special friends that was extremely close to her and was very good to Dervla they were definitely in the winner’s enclosure-Tara Byrne-John Healy-and John O Sullivan.

So sad to hear of Dervilla passing ….always true to herself and so engaging and fun to be around in Mount Pleasant tennis club over the years … she got a great kick out of been one of the honorary Oscar’s winners at the MP ball back in 2018.She had all the room in stitches with her wonderful personality and humour …gone way too soon ….my condolences to all her family …
