So very sorry to all the Healy Family on the loss of Des. Peig, Mary, Mark, Paul, Michael Des, and extended family Have only found out this sad news and so sorry to have missed his funeral and paying our respects. Des lives large in my memory, he introduced us all to Dereenatrá and gave us memories to last a lifetime. Larger than life, will always remember his warmth, his hugs, his songs, his love of life and people and organising is all on KP! (Kitchen patrol!) Rest in deep peace Des and thank you once again for the gift you gave us of West Cork.

To Paul des and all the family can I express my deepest sympathy to you both your mam and the family. Can I assure you of my prayers. Mass will be offered for your dad. And also for his family that God will give you all strength at this very sad time

As Mark said, he's probably gone for a bale of briquettes with my Dad. Well, he took his time! Joe has been waiting for him in Arundel's (Schull) for 51 years.

Sincere condolences to Peig MaryPaul Micheal Mark Dessie and the extended Healy clan on the passing of Des A very talented man who enjoyed life to the full and enhanced the lives of all who knew him with his music vitality and his knack of being able to engage with everyone young or old.I can still remember him attempting to waterski when he was no longer in the first flush of youth,He wasn’t going to give up no matter how much it hurt him.He wasn’t a man to sit down and watch he was going to get involved in whatever was happening.I had hoped that I could have made it to the funeral but it didn’t work out.May he rest in peace singing with the angels.

As one of many neighbours in Saval Park Gardens who grew up with the Healy clan, Des was an active participant in our lives. He never lost the joy & excitement of a child’s heart & added so much vigour & fun to our games & gatherings. We were always in awe of his musical talent in song, harmonies & piano.
Des impacted our lives with liveliness, love & caring, joy, kindness & his heartfelt faith.
We will certainly miss this Legend & will always cherish his blessed legacy. Thank you so much Des.
