We will treasure the memory of our last meeting in the village. The warmth of welcome, his enthusiasm and humour.

I know Des would have really enjoyed the Funeral service and I'm sure he was looking down and smiling. So many fun memories of times soldiering with him in the late 1970's in BOI - before we both ( or at least I !!)got a little sense. His arrival into my ward in Cork University hospital back in 1979 - dressed in a doctor's gown - causing absolute consternation among the nurses -ranks high among the fun incidents we shared. Absolutely, a larger than life character . Sail on Des.

So sorry to hear of Des's passing. Such a gentleman, a smile for all and always time to stand and chat. Have missed & will miss him. To Liz, Dean, Lara & Shane we are so sorry for your loss our deepest condolences. ❤ RIP Des

Lara, your Mum and brothers. I was so sorry to hear about Des’s passing. From what I hear, he was a fantastic person who will be greatly missed by many people. He lives on in your good nature and friendly disposition. I am so very sorry to hear of Des's untimely death. I knew Des from my time in BOI and only ever remember him with a smile on his face, he was always larger than life and such great fun. Deepest condolences to Liz and all of his family at this very sad time.

Very sad and shocked to learn today of the passing of Des. He was always a good-humoured and warm colleague when we worked together in BOI. Fun to be around, he could and would always laugh heartily in conversation and he could poke fun at himself with ease too. So shocked & saddened on hearing of Des’s passing. Like many others I had the pleasure of knowing him from working in BOI. Eamonn’s description of the joking & slagging & then that clap on the back was exactly how I remember him. A beautiful funeral service and Des would have been so very proud of you Liz, a perfect and fitting tribute to clearly a great husband, loving dad and a great friend to many. May he rest in peace. For many many years, Des and I were an inseparable team, both professionally and socially. He certainly found his niche workwise, and was an outstanding customer relations specialist over a long period, who was universally popular. Worth his weight in gold.
Socially, we soldiered together in many battlegrounds, always led by Des’s unending positivity and love of people and of fun. I really can’t think of any harsh words or unpleasantness anywhere Des went. He made many friends both near to home and far away, and news of his passing will be met with shock and a real sense of loss.
He’s had a tough few years, which I’ve only been able to track from afar. After such a difficult illness, we can be very assured that he WILL now Rest in Peace. For that, we can be grateful. He deserves it.

I was to sad to hear this news; Des was gregarious,friendly and with outstanding organisational abilities,I have known him from Grove Ave. to Blackrock RFC and BOI Cabinteely-may the Almighty and his Angels welcome him into Paradise.

Very saddened to hear of Des’s untimely passing. Everyone knew and appreciated Des from organising most of the sports and social events in the Computer Centre in the 1980s.
